Equisol Strip on Western Red Cedar french doors

Products used: Equisol Strip
Timber Type: Western Red Cedar
Western Red Cedar french doors restored using Equisol Strip. The doors face west and had years of old film coating which was flaking badly. Western red cedar is a very soft timber, so sanding was not an option.
99% of all failed coating was removed without sanding. Equisol Strip was simply brushed on, kept moist for 60 minutes with water misting and reapplication around the beading where the film had dried thickly. The formula was then hosed off with a pressure cleaner. Because Western red cedar can be gouged easily with water pressure, caution should be taken to not to use too much force. In this case you can see where the timber has furred up. The stripped surface was lightly sanded with a sanding sponge, ready for oiling.
