Equisol Pro E365
Pro E365 is a penetrating, non-film forming, clear exterior timber oil that highlights the natural beauty of timber grain with a signature matt finish. It is Australian made timber oil for Australian conditions.
Pro E365 migrates and diffuses into the timber for long lasting protection from within, minimising warping and splitting. The environmentally-friendly linseed oil base is specially formulated with mould and algae inhibitors. This helps resist the growth of black mould on your deck while nourishing and preserving the timber. Enhanced UV absorbers also help mitigate the effect of sunlight exposure. Use the clear timber oil to allow the natural silvering process, or add an Equisol Colour Tone for rich colour that lasts longer.
Hardwood: 10-16m2 per litre.

Reapply when the timber has faded to a pale colour or water is not beading on the surface.
FIRST RECOAT: The process of removing previously failed finishes dries out the natural oils in the timber, so an initial recoat may be required sooner as timber absorbs the Equisol oil and Colour Tone. It is recommended to apply the first recoat in approximately six months if the timber is fully exposed to the weather. Once your timber has achieved a natural balance of oils again, the freshly oiled look will last longer.
REGULAR RECOATS: Multiple coats of Equisol with Colour Tone will darken timber over time, so prepare surface first with Equisol Vitalise to remove old colour, dirt, surface contaminants, grease, rust and water stains. Sand areas of broken or uneven colour with 80 grit sandpaper.
PROCESS: Apply one light coat of Equisol Pro E365 to the clean, dry surface. Frequency of recoating will vary depending upon degree of exposure, intensity of pigment, climate, aspect, etc. Initial signs of wear will be observed on exposed areas. Horizontal surfaces (eg. decks and handrails) require shorter interval before recoating than vertical parts, as water and dirt lying on the surface and long sun exposure will erode treatment more rapidly.
More than two coats per recoating are not recommended, as Equisol Pro E365 will not penetrate timber, resulting in stickiness, uneven surface colour and sheen.
THINNING: Does not require thinning.
DRYING TIME: Drying times are dependent on timber type, moisture and climate.
RECOAT: Leave for 24 hours if possible
WALK ON: 24 hours after recoat, or when dry.
Stir thoroughly before and during application with a flat blade stirrer. Apply two coats using a brush, spray or floor applicator.
On the first coat, ensure timber surface is touch dry, free of mould, wax, grease, dirt, and salt (coastal areas). Apply light coats. Drag each brush stoke out.
When using Equisol Colour Tones, follow directions on Colour Tones label. If job requires more than one tin of coloured Equisol, mix all together in large container prior to commencing for consistent colours.
Application can be used by spraying, lambswool applicator pad or brush. If applying with spray, back brush coating to ensure even penetration. Work along 3 – 4 planks at a time, in the direction of the grain. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated.
Allow touch dry between coats. Do not apply under 10°C or above 35°C or when rain or heavy dew is expected within the drying time.
On previously coated timber using Equisol Pro E365 or equivalent penetrating oil.
Previous water-based coatings must be totally removed from surface or Equisol will remain sticky and shiny spots will develop. See PREPARATION.
Reapply when the timber has faded to a pale colour or water is not beading on the surface.
FIRST RE-COAT: The process of removing previously failed finishes dries out the natural oils in the timber, so an initial re-coat may be required sooner as timber absorbs the Equisol oil and Colour Tone. It is recommended to apply the first re-coat in approximately six months if the timber is fully exposed to the weather. Once your timber has achieved a natural balance of oils again, the freshly oiled look will last longer.
REGULAR RE-COATS: Multiple coats of Equisol with Colour Tone will darken timber over time, so prepare surface first with Equisol Vitalise to remove old colour, dirt, surface contaminants, grease, rust and water stains. Sand areas of broken or uneven colour with 80 grit sandpaper.

Pro E365 Reviews
See what our customers are saying.
I stripped old coats of water based product using a drum sander and angle grinder. I opted against use of chemical stripper. I was open to use of penetrating oil in place of the standard water-based products and landed on Equisol. Customer service in the pre-sale stage was a major factor. Our deck was in really bad shape before I started grinding and we were taking a risk by opting against a chemical stripper but the result after two applications of Equisol has well exceeded our expectations. My only regret is that I didn’t start with Equisol 15 years ago!
Coffs Harbour Hardwoods has been stocking the Equisol brand of coatings and cleaners for many years now. It is the only range we choose to stock in store. We find their products are great on Aussie Hardwoods. They help to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the timber and maintain the quality of the product that we offer. Our customers are very happy and we sell Equisol products almost every day.
The sales and service they offer matches the same excellence of the products that they provide.

We’ve been exclusively using Equisol to pre-coat decking and cladding for the past two years, having previously used Cutek for about a decade. We coat Australian hardwood and Thermory’s thermally modified timbers, mainly from Europe. Equisol Pro E365’s performance, stability and colour retention matches or exceeds anything else we have ever used, even after years of weathering in southern NSW climate.
A big advantage is that Equisol can be applied at lower temperatures – we can pre-coat when it’s still freezing outside. The biggest plus for us is that it’s much more sustainable – a much lower percentage of fossil fuels, and lower VOCs. We know that our customers are getting the benefit of a full bodied stabilising oil that will provided years of protection, not just a couple of months.
I have been restoring timber decks for 20 years and using Equisol Pro 365 for around 4 years.
It penetrates deeper into the timber than any other product I’m aware of and is an excellent “timber preserver” .
It can be used in both cold and hot temperatures in both it’s clear format or with an added tint, and I know that it will never flake or peel.
We really love the result from the equisol products.
When the decks were installed it was finished with a Cabots sealer and this was maintained over several years. The timber did not look natural. Last year my husband and I followed the steps to strip and redo the deck using equisol products and the results were fantastic. The wood looked natural and gave a satin look finish allowing the wood to look its very best.
We used Equisol ProE365 on Thermory Aspen wood in our bathroom and the result is absolutely stunning – it gave the wood such a luxurious, warm look. The product was easy to work with, and the support team was excellent and really helpful throughout the process. We used the ProE365 with the Colour tones tint in Medium Brown for the trim that was Tasmanian Oak wood to get a really seamless look in color.
I’d recommend ensuring you can open a window while applying if you’re using it indoors, as the smell can be a bit strong, but it does fade completely after a few days.
Overall, we’re really happy with the result and would highly recommend Equisol ProE365.
We make custom timber frames and trusses for bespoke homes and commercial buildings Australia-wide. We have used the range of Equisol products on all of our timber work since coming across Equisol at the start of 2024. We particularly find that the Pro E365 and the pre-oiling Rapid products to be fantastic with a lot of positive attributes. The application is significantly easier for our team as the timbers can be wet stacked, the finish dries quickly and very evenly, and it’s pleasant to use with no nasty vapours etc. The product itself seems to do wonders for our timbers which are largely unseasoned hardwoods, as the penetration of the oil is great and really helps stabilise the timbers and reduce the likelihood of splitting etc. The oils are easily tinted, oils offering our clients a range of options for the products we produce for them. The range of complimentary products that go with the oils are also very handy as our customers have confidence that the full range of timber care products are all compatible and work really well together.
We are very happy to use Equisol on all of our timber work and recommend it highly to all of our customers for the ongoing maintenance of both our products and other timber components of their projects.
I use the Equisol system because it works the best. After decades of using every other timber oil and coating, I know I can depend on Equisol. So can my customers.
Equisol is the only penetrating oil that works in winter. We use it every winter on the exterior deck at Gundagai courthouse. Despite mid-winter single digit temperatures, sleet during the day and below zero at night, we encounter no issues with cleaning and oiling the timber.
I wouldn’t use anything else.
Equisol definitely helped our business. We can get off sites fast. In warmer months we can do a whole deck prep and coat in a single day enabling us to complete more decks in less time. Equisol’s quick drying time enables faster repeat coats as well. That makes the work far more efficient for us. In winter Equisol’s fast drying formula keeps my trucks on the road coating and maintaining decks right through our wonderful Antarctic months!
And people love the product because it works.
Recently restored Merbau deck, using a combination of Prime, Vitalise and then applied two coats of oil.
Recently restored Merbau decking using a combination of Prime, Vitalise and then oiled with a red brown colour tone. Looks amazing.
A Dream Deck, Now Perfectly Protected: A Huge Thank You to Equisol!
What can I say? After spending upwards of $30k building my dream Merbau deck, I wanted to ensure my investment was well protected while also looking stunning. As a first-time deck oiler, I felt overwhelmed by the multiple options available between water and oil-based products. I wasn’t sure where to start, but after a phone call with Peter from Equisol, all my concerns vanished. Peter patiently took the time to answer all my questions, no matter how silly they seemed, and even sent me sample tins of three different tinted oils to help me choose. Thank you again, Peter!
By the time I was ready to oil, my deck had already been down for 12 months, and it was in rough shape. It was filthy, with some areas grey and others stained, looking quite worn overall. But Equisol’s Prime product worked wonders, stripping away the old oils and tannins from the Merbau boards. Then, the Equisol Vitalise did an amazing job of brightening and renewing the timber to its former glory, prepping it perfectly for the oil.
I chose the Dark Brown tint for the oil and applied one full coat to the posts, beams, handrails, stairs and finally decking boards. This first coat dried in about 2 hrs on a 30 deg day. This was followed by a very thin second coat on just the decking boards for extra protection. In hindsight, one coat would have been enough, and credit where credit is due, Peter did recomment just one coat as my deck is undercover. The second coat did darken the deck a bit more than I had hoped, and took a little longer to dry, so that’s on me. At least I know it’s well-protected! The Perdura Deck Brush Peter recommended was an excellent applicator, making the whole process easier and more efficient.
I wish I could share more pictures of the finished product, because the results are truly amazing. The deck looks better than I ever imagined!
Thanks again Peter and Equisol team. i will be recommending your product to all who ask me!
Rob
After a poor result with the products purchased from a large hardware chain I had to start over with my 2 year old spotted gum deck. This involved removing an old decking oil (basically kerosene), and sanding the deck back to the original wood to start over.
Absolutely delighted with both the products and the service provided. The online videos are helpful, expecially for a DYI project, and staff at Equisol were very helpful with tips and advice at a couple of key points in the project. The Pro E365 is so easy to apply, and dries relatively quickly so that I was able to proceed on days when overnight rain was a possibility.
The deck now looks amazing! So glad my online research led me to Equisol.
The Equisol deck ages gracefully, while the water-based coating always looks like it needs attention when they lose the shine. I am old. I have had decks for 36 years. I know.
Much better to use than other leading brands. It glides on easier and smells much better than other mineral-based oils. My customer said the same thing. I will be using Equisol from now on.
One of the best products I have ever used, and I have used every brand!
I recently had the opportunity to compare Equisol Pro E365 and Cutek CD50 oils on the same kind of deck. The back deck was Cutek. The garden deck was Equisol. In my opinion, I found the Equisol product easier to apply as it went on smoother, and it was also quicker to dry. And when time is money that’s a huge advantage. I also highly recommend Equisol Strip to remove old coatings. Worked a treat for me on a deck with an old water based coating that had failed.
Deck looks amazing , come up better than I could have hoped for. Would definitely recommend A++
Our deck had been coated with layers of decking paint and had started to weather. The Equisol product sounded ideal in terms of protecting the deck and bringing out the natural colours of the timber. We have been delighted with the result and would recommend this solution highly.
These guys were awesome. Their product looks great and it lasts under extreme stress. I live on the beachfront on the Gold Coast and despite very harsh ocean conditions, the colour stayed, the boards held up well and we are super happy. Plus they’re great guys.
I have a large deck that had previously been painted with a water based finish.
It would flake when wet and showed marks easily that were difficult to remove.
Equisol was able to suggest an alternative coating that would alleviate these issues.
Australian Timber & Deck were able to remove the old coating completely and re-coat with Equisol
They fitted their schedule to coincide with a time we were travelling (removal and prep is noisy and dusty)
We returned to a beautifully finished deck that doesn’t show much markings and is easy to keep clean
We are very happy with the job.
We decided to switch from Sikkens to Equisol for our deck, and it looks great.
What a transformation from an ugly deck to a great one.
The decks look fantastic, with the natural grain showing through, the timber restored to new life and protected. I highly recommend this star product Equisol, for anyone who wants the best quality.
Really pleased with natural oil finish that brings out the living quality of the wood. Classic look, subtly beautiful and deeply satisfying to live with.
