Tuckombil Barn shines with Equisol

Tuckomobil barn project by Traditional Timber Frames, using Equisol penetrating oils. A build taking nearly 2 years of detailed craftsmanship, requiring frame and all joinery constructed over several months in the workshop and timber yard, which presented unique challenges.

Equisol Pro E365 was perfect to pre-coat all posts and beams directly out of the mill. By protecting the seasoning process of the posts and beams sitting outside in the elements, Equisol ensured the timbers didn’t weather, warp, or split before reaching the site.

“The timbers stay looking fresh, surface checking and cracks are reduced significantly and the timber colours are retained,” according to Chris Nance of Traditional Timber Frames. “This is especially important for the traditional joinery, as we don’t use any steel plates or bolts. Checking in the tenons, for example, can significantly weaken the joints. Because each individual joint is hand scribed to be extremely accurate, any twisting or splitting during construction, can be problematic when the time comes for installation.”
